General Questions
1
Why use art to impact the community?
As a group of passionate female high school artists in San Jose, we are proud to step up and become local leaders. We take the role of leaders in order to give back to our community through hands-on arts and crafts with elderly homes. After the pandemic hit, a lot of vulnerable members in San Jose was deeply affected resulting in isolation and longing for connection. To tackle this issue, Palette of Positivity decides to continuously dedicate our time, energy and talents to spread kindness to elderly homes in San Jose. We use art to impact people because art allows us to express ourselves, unplug from screens, and build a tighter community. We hope to use our passion for art to uplift vulnerable communities, connect with people, and spread kindness and positivity in the world.

What inspired you to create Palette of Positivity?
Palette of Positivity was inspired by Kara Fan's passion to lead and create impactful art. After creating a "Reclaiming Asian Space" mural at Hillbrook middle school for a social impact and leadership project, Kara knew she wanted to pursue and dedicate herself to this passion. Palette of Positivity not only forges a tight knit community, but it also serves as a great way for young women in leadership to find their voice and pursue their passion. Our hope is that Palette of Positivity can not only reach as many communities as possible, but also to create lasting partnerships.

What makes Palette of Positivity different?
The majority of our members attend Notre Dame high school, an all girls school that teaches us to be women of impact. It is often hard for high school students to not only engage with our community, but also to stand up and be a leader for a cause that you are passionate about. Palette of Positivity provides San Jose high schoolers to make a difference in our own hometowns and be women of impact. Not only are we leaders, but we emphasize the power in giving back to the community by donating our hard work.
